SUMMARY:"Redcoats & Rebels" Long Island History Hunt
DESCRIPTION:In this year celebrating the 250th anniversary of our Nation as an independent Republic\, visit one\, some or all the museums\, landmarks and parks on Long Island tagged as Challenge sites for this year’s “Redcoats & Rebels” History Hunt. There are thirty-six sites in total spanning the entire island from Brooklyn to Montauk and covering both the north and south forks. \nBetween May 23rd and September 30th visit as many of the participating sites as you like\, taking a selfie at the designated site location and uploading it in the app for cash\, prizes and bragging rights. You must register at LIHistoryHunt.com to participate; registration opens Saturday May 16th.. \nOn the website\, once in\, be sure to play the audio tapes at the bottom of each page. There’s a filmstrip of thumbnail images of all the participating sites. Highlight one and listen to a brief snippet about its history. Click on the Challenge Tab near the top of the page and get instructions on where to take your selfie. In our case\, take the selfie pointing to this sign showing the date the Annie Cooper Boyd House was built. Once you’ve decided to visit a specific site\, click on Directions and Google Maps will get you there. \nThis fun event is made possible with the generous funding of the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation.

SUMMARY:Beebee Windmill Sign Installation
DESCRIPTION:“Flag on the Mill\, ship in the Bay” \nIn Sag Harbor when residents saw a “Flag on the Mill” they knew that a returning whaling ship had been spotted in the bay. The flag was always raised on the Beebee Windmill. The windmill has been moved to Bridgehampton\, on Ocean Road; however\, we are erecting a sign at its original location in Sag Harbor to commemorate this part of village history and lore. Join us when we dedicate this historical village marker.
