The Sag Harbor Historical Museum has an extensive archival collection, assembled since its founding in 1986 and the acquisition of the eighteenth-century Annie Cooper Boyd house from Annie’s daughter Nancy Boyd Willey in 1998. In 2023, the Board of Trustees decided to build a climate-controlled archival facility to house this important collection, which includes documents, historical maps, correspondence and photographs, rare books and diaries, textiles, and the paintings of Annie Cooper Boyd. It was decided to construct the facility behind the historic house, adjacent the reconstructed Whale Boat Shop.

Museum trustee, architect and life-long Sag Harbor resident Craig Rhodes designed and worked closely with Village regulatory boards to secure approval for this new addition to the Museum compound. It is scheduled for construction in 2026.
